Path Of The Dead

Another piece which had been laying around unfinished for a while. All those precious minutes between my new chores as a father of twins were put into this and my previous painting "Alm-Atias Refuge"...let's see how long it will take me to do a new painting from scratch. Too long, that's almost certain...

Alm-Atias Refuge

Time to paint has been so scarce for the last month that getting this painting completed was a real victory for me. *Sigh of relief*

The Roaring Pillars

I hope you can hear them...

Forest Kingdom II

Here is a cover I did for Eduardo Tarilonte's upcoming sampling library Forest Kingdom II. I had a lot of fun doing it and, once more, I took inspiration from another great 80s flick "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Last Ark".

Evil Returns

Evil Returns - Being a child of the 80s I grew up watching the Evil Dead movies, John Carpenter's great horror masterpieces, Poltergeist, etc...I had to come up with something with living dead...I hope the 30somethings out there relate to this as I do!

The Beheader

Trying to make pink and swans look cool and evil. This one started out from the same sketch as "Everyone Wants To Be A Hero" posted some months ago.

Trenches

Same as previous exercise...1 hour limit speedpainting in one continuous session.

Bloodsucker's Humble Abode

Set myself a time limit of 1 hour to do this speedpainting trying to focus on the essential elements and using as much time-saving techniques as possible. I also did this in one pass to see if I could get away without relying on those invaluable pauses that make you see all the dumb mistakes you did.

The Hidden Path

Something more China inspired.

Conspiracy

Inspired by a visit to the beautiful church of "São Domingos" in Lisbon.
The church suffered a big fire in 1959 which completely destroyed the inner decoration. It was decided not to hide the marks of the fire and to my eyes it only makes the church more beautiful. I was told the orange painted ceiling is a reminiscence to the fire. Here is a photo:

Dedicated to Paula Bottas for showing me this beautiful church.

The Hunt

Nothing much to say, other than this started as a thumbnail a sketch I did last year for James Paick's online masterclass.

Everyone Wants To Be A Hero

I leave a suggestive title so you can decide if this guy makes it or if he is just a bit too ambitious...

Peaceful Kingdom

Some months ago I created a new folder with unfinished paintings/sketches and also intermediate steps of finished paintings. Basically it's a collection of a lot of crappy images I did over the last years that I think had some potential if taken further or reworked. This is one of my attempts to try and make something interesting out of something not worth looking at. Let me know your thoughts.

Dark Days To Come

Image inspired by the work of masters Khang Le and Maciej Kuciara, two artists I greatly admire...

Warriors2

A fleshed out version of the previous sketch...

Warriors

Rougher work, which sometimes has the appeal of not showing everything to the viewer making it more engaging. My focus was on composition, color and pose.
Overworking a painting can lead to uninteresting results so instead I decided to share this image where the "paint" is still fresh...

Zombie Overrun

Probably inspired by "Undead Nightmare"...Gotta love them zombies!

Summit

Testing techniques and ways to approach a painting. This is one of a series of 4 paintings I did with a similar theme.

Forest Temple II

This is the other Forest Temple painting I did simultaneously as the previous post...same ingredients: big tree, forest, 2 characters and a temple.

Forest Temple I

One of 2 recent illustrations I did for practice using techniques outlined by the amazing Feng Zhu. My subject matter was a moody forest, 2 characters and a temple of some sort.

The Wise Man's Fear

A promotional image I did for the portuguese edition of The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss.
